Anti-static effect decreases after heat-setting – why?

Heat-setting above 180 °C can degrade quaternary ammonium compounds. Use non-ionic or amphoteric anti-stats with higher thermal stability. Alternatively, apply anti-stat after heat-setting in a separate finishing step.

Incompatibility with fluorocarbon repellents

Fluorocarbons are typically anionic; cationic anti-stats may precipitate. Use non-ionic anti-stats or apply anti-stat in a separate bath prior to repellent finishing. Always conduct jar tests for compatibility.

How to measure anti-static performance on fabrics?

Reduction in softness after anti-stat application
